Well, it's clear that a fair portion of the guild watches anime, so it's only fair that there be an anime thread for it. The title says it all. Hopefully, I can find some interesting anime this way as well (ulterior motive).

For the record, my favorite genres are supernatural, psychological, and comedy... so I'm not sure any of you would like these that much.

5. Gurren Lagann
-Tons of heart-ripping moments but still maintains a comedic mood, action is decent, "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?"

4. XXXHolic
-Good blend of comedy and supernatural elements, awesome shop owner, ties in with the Tsubasa Chronicles series, opening and ending music are good

3. Bakemonogatari
-Interesting characters, interesting character interaction, unique supernatural elements, different kind of humor, several different opening musics and each is good, amazing ending music

2. Code Geass
-Best goddamn ending ever

1. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
-Very well developed characters with several personality traits, amazing character interaction, several subplots that relate to the main plot well, matches mood to music incredibly well and does an excellent job of creating a mood, good at doing comedy or doing horror, two badass characters, several different themes, huge number of plot twists, an ongoing mystery where your theory changes drastically every arc until the ending, falls under the genres of psychological, supernatural, and comedy, "Nipa--*".

Im pretty much just getting a little more into anime. All ive really seen was:

Pokemon

Fullmetal Alchemist

Elfen Lied

Lucky Star (only a little bit of the anime)

Detective Conan (only a little bit of the manga though)

And thats all I can really think of. I remember seeing that one with Kish that Omar showed us, but that one freaked the crap out of us so it does not deserve to be on the list. I cant remember what it was called

I usually choose mangas unless it's an action show (or a show that needs good visual effects). Whenever I try to read an action manga I can never tell what the hell is going on.

Yeah thats what happened to me when i was reading naruto. I could not tell who was winning, or who was fighting, or pretty much anything. Just a lot of black explosions and KAPOWS. I hate reading anyways, i prefer anime over manga. I dont think an anime show can be worse than the manga since 99% of anime is based off manga. They could leave something out but that probably doesnt happen too often.

Fight scenes are pretty hard to understand with any kind of literature, like even normal books. Its hard to visualize the fighting styles the right way the author intended it to be like

Well imagining fights really comes down to the readers imagination. One could have a massive imagination and make the fight look really cool where as another could have a small imagination and make the fight look worse then it actually should be.

I love adding sound effects when I read Bleach Manga and fights, when I read books, always turn out epic. If I could actually finish a maple flash animation then it would look pretty cool.

The only book I've ever read with long battle sequences was Harry Potter. Especially the quidditch matches, I always skipped over those parts in the books and just looked for where it says who won.

Animes and manga (and light novel i guess) adaptations aren't always the same. Sometimes the endings are completely different (Rozen Maiden, Original FMA) or they just add an arc that wasn't in the original (To Aru Kagaku No Railgun, Bleach, Tsubasa Chronicles) or they change something about the show drastically (Kobato). I usually try to watch both the anime and the manga but usually I think the original is better.

Manga ruins it alot for the anime, you don't get as much mind fuckage if you read the manga as it can be best represented to most people better in sequence. That's why I ain't ready the Naruto Manga so every friday I can get mind fuck.

So mangas don't show the series in sequence...?

And which has more mindfuck?

Is that even good or bad?

Anime does it better for some. Its mainly for major fight scenes. It only depends how you depict the fight in the manga, the more you hype it up the more mind fucked you will become. However with the anime, all you do is to watch and let it mind fuck you. Bleach and Naruto (Anime) have done that for the past couple of episodes.

Ahahaha, have you seen Get Him to the Greek? You saying mind fuck over and over again is giving me flash backs of P Diddy telling Jonah Hill that he's mind fucking him.

"You feel my dick fucking your mind?!"

....if you haven't seen it, it's pretty funny.

Holy crap. I just finished watching the last episode of FMA original and im pissed.
The entire show was great and everything, and I loved it..... except for the ending.
Everything they been through, Al gets his body back, BUT loses his memory of everything and Ed gets his arm and leg back for a second then gets his automail back again, AND PRETTY MUCH BASICALLY GETS SEPARATED FROM AL FOREVER. WHAT KIND OF ENDING IS THAT. SDFSDFSDF

... Fuck you Ange.
I was going to watch FMA after exams, and now you've gone and ruined it for me.
Don't you always complain to us that you hate people spoiling things?
You disgust me and I hate you forever.

Things to do after exams:
Read Harry potter - Cancelled (My friend told it off)
Watch FMA - Cancelled (ANGE Told it off)

hmm, looks like all I can do is stay at home, watch porn and eat popcorn ):
By the way Ange, I officially hate you forever

Just watch Brotherhood instead. Omar says it's better, and it's completely different. Besides, Angie didn't really spoil the whole ending because she didn't watch the movie.

You haven't seen the movie "FMA: Shambala", it ties up the FMA storyline nicely and I say it was an awesome ending.

well she told it off anyway, I didn't know he got his body back, he could have died and his soul lost forever, but I wouldn't have known. But now that I DO know. I don't feel like going through all the effort just to obtain knowledge that I already know. ):

I've spoiled heaps of things for myself but I still lived through those spoilers and then out of the blue I would get mindfucked and be like WOAH! Didn't see that coming.

Also I've watched the FMA series twice, gotten to like ep 12 in Brotherhood, I liked the dubb better and couldn't stand watching it in Japaense. I might when I get 2weeks break.

I know how you feel, Kish. But that's just one series, the other series isn't finished yet. If you watch that one you still don't know anything!

I disagree with you Jando. My friend told me over and over again not to watch the movie and I wish I'd listened. I think I was more disappointed after seeing it. But it might make you feel better Angie, you never know.
