| I've got a story for you lovely people!: - Spoiler:
So like a week and a half ago my friend was telling me about how one night she woke up and she saw a man standing over her. She stared at him for about 10 seconds before running into the other room to wake up her brothers, but when they went back to her room he was gone. I told her it was probably a dream that seemed really real. She agreed and we dismissed the incident.
A couple days ago she starts telling me about how her mom's pictures of Jesus keep disappearing. Her mom is really religious and carries around those little prayer cards with her everywhere, and just all of a sudden a lot of them were nowhere to be found. We laughed about how creepy it was considering what happened to her a few days before, but agreed that her mom has been really forgetful lately, and she probably just misplaced them.
Well yesterday, their AC went out, and I went over to pick up my friend to go to the library where it's cooler. I go in to say hi to the mom and the brothers who are all in the kitchen. We're talking, laughing, when all of a sudden we hear two distinct crashes come from the living room. We go to investigate and we find that one of their crosses had fallen to the ground and had broken. On the complete opposite side of the room, a family portrait of them had also fallen. Everyone who was in the house was in the kitchen at the time of the crashes, there was absolutely no wind in the house because the AC was broken, and obviously there was no earthquake, so I seriously have no logical explanation for wtf happened. It was like Paranormal Activity!
So do you guys believe in ghosts? Despite this incident, I honestly don't, but it's a really creepy coincidence, yeah? I'll admit at least, it got me thinking. Anyway, I really like good scary stories. Share your ghosts stories, real or not.

| I am going to ignore this post with all my willpower. I can't deal with scary stories for my life. But yea, I ended up reading your story because I am also really bad at stopping curiosity. That is weird as shit. I always think those are the things that you just "hear" about and never actually experience, or that they are exaggerated or something. But hearing it from you makes it seem much more real, which is why I will gladly step the fuck away from this post. Edit: For a logical explanation (that will help me sleep), it could be something along the lines of confirmation bias. They could have been framing everything in terms of "A GHOST IS IN THE HOUSE". Like the missing pictures of Jesus. Maybe they were always missing or she's always been losing them just like other pictures, but after they heard about a ghost, suddenly its the ghost's fault. They only notice it after it's relevant to ghosts. That might explain a few parts of the story but the end still creeps me out. Edit 2: The first part could've been sleep paralysis btw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis. Except... missing the paralysis part | |

| The confirmation bias thing is what I thought too before the last incident. When she was telling me about it, her brothers and I were actually laughing and making fun of her for it. Some of our other friends think that because we were joking about it that's why this "ghost" or "demon" decided to create a situation where we wouldn't be able to logic our way out of it.
Although, to my knowledge, the cross and picture had been framed when they moved in months ago.
Right now what helps me sleep is thinking that one of them is playing a practical joke on the rest of the family. They're big on it. That and, they all are aware that I have a huge irrational fear of ghosts so a part of me feels like they waited to do the thing in the living room until I was there. I mean because truthfully, it seems too unreal right!? A cross and a family picture?! No way, I smell shenanigans.
Yeah see, I told her she was dreaming! Psh.
Don't worry Kevin, you can sleep knowing that said ghost is all the way in northern Virginia. You're safe.

| Holy fuck.
I've been a skeptic of ghosts for a long time. It comes from being Agnostic and having the whole "believe it when I see it" view. I don't disbelieve in ghosts, and I don't fully believe them either, but that's only because I've never had proof in front of my face. I checked yes in the poll because I want to believe it. Part of me wants to have some kind of paranormal experience just to know. A large portion of my friends are sole believers and claim to have stuff happened to them, but a lot of these are also people who are hard to believe and say things like "I've been chosen by the devil and must make a sacrifice" and yadda yadda.
Yeah I have some strange friends.
There's also part of me who is terrified of ghosts, and another part that gets the adrenaline rush that makes me want to see crazy shit happen. From all the ghost research I've done though, and if it really was some real paranormal stuff, it would more than likely be a demon than your friendly neighborhood ghost. Demons are the ones that go around knocking crap like crosses over like that and defacing pictures. And if you've seen Paranormal Activity, the stuff about the Ouija board was true. Or at lest, would be true if I knew this stuff really existed.
Its possible it was a prank, but didn't you say everyone was in the kitchen at the time? Who else would be there? Another thing to consider is that demons don't like intruders, and you may have been an extra person that it didn't want there. You also said that they moved in months ago and that isn't very long, which is another huge red flag.
Reading that and typing all of this made me extremely paranoid now. I just went and turned my light and the hall light on and I'm putting on some music to drown out the absolute still quietness.

| AHAHA Angie, remember when we were up at like 4 am watching ghost videos over Skype? We are so dumb, we scared ourselves way too much.
Right, everyone who was in the house was in the kitchen, but I mean, I don't know! I just need this rationale to help me sleep at night.
And don't worry about the weird friends bit. I have a friend who says he's a medium. Also says he has a demon in his house. He makes me go to his pagan store to get stuff for rituals. Listen, we love people for who they are, not what they do!
Also, I hear what you're saying about it being a demon, but there's a detail I left out that we found out after I wrote the original post. Two people actually died in the house, the parents of their landlord. SURPRISE. No wonder rent is so cheap and he doesn't check credit!

| Am I the only person who is sane?!
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GHOSTS. I am the type of person who only believes things if there is scientific evidence to back it up. Look at all the ghost hunter shows they have on TV nowadays, it all seems so fake to me, like honestly.. i don't even have a clear concept of what a real ghost would be like. I just think Casper. Knocking down pictures and stealing pictures of jesus? I think Kevin is right with the bias thing. Those don't seem related.
I think a more realistic explanation to all of this is that there is a hindu rapist living in her house. That explains the man standing over her and this explains the missing jesus pictures (he want's to convert her obviously). The last mystery is the falling picture, which can be explained scientifically. Since the A/C was off, the house, overall, increased in temperature. This caused the walls to expand, pushing the cross and the picture off the wall.
Case closed.

| I think everyone expressed that they don't believe in ghosts, it's just fun to talk about. The fun is letting yourself believe for the moment to let yourself get creeped out. But the Hindu rapist theory.. I'm afraid I'm convinced. Will share these findings with my friend tomorrow, I'm sure she'll be relieved. | |

| If your friend can be relieved after hearing that there is a Hindu rapist in her house, you have some fucked up friends. | |

| Lol Kevin, that made me laugh.
Omar, sorry, but I am in no way convinced. Those are all just lame excuses. And the hindu rapist. Psh.
So far, since the logical explanation side seems to have no real logic in it at all, the paranormal side is winning for me.
And dang, the people actually died in the house? Yeaaaah. That's enough to keep me up at night. And here it is already 2am. Tell your friend she has some shit to worry about. If it's not a demon, its a hindu rapist. She either needs to look for an exorcist or the police. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
