18 sucks man, the only huge difference (in America) is that you can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes, and now if you get in a fight or something, you'll go to jail, not just get reprimanded.

Yeah... it would suck if you were to come to America anytime soon for whatever reason, and you would be stripped of your ability to do whatever you want.

Another thing about being 18 in America though is that you can now move out of your parents house without them forcing you to go back. (in otherwords, they can also kick you out too if they wanted)
On the bright side though no one treats you like a kid anymore

You could leave your house before 18 if you became an emancipated minor and made enough money to take care of yourself and at the same time go to school. I think most 18 year olds couldnt do that anyways and still depend on their parents until they are in their mid 20s

You know, legally you can leave home at 18, but especially nowadays that's almost never a feasible option anymore. My dad was able to leave his home at 16. I don't know anyone who has been able to fully disconnect from their parents as of yet.

In my opinion, no one fully retires from the aid of their parents until around age 22-30, unless they're some sort of overachiever supergeek like Kevin. Or maybe they really just want to move out.

Being emancipated is practically a myth here. Absolutely no one is motivated enough to leave the free money and aid of their parents before they have to.
